In recent years, many chinampa owners have created replicas of the Island of the Dolls. Some operators sell these replicas as the real Island of the Dolls, when they are not.
Your route:
  • Xochimilco’s main canal, passing through the area with live music.
  • You will get off at the “Floating Gardens” (chinampas) to see plants.
  • You will visit the Caltongo Lagoon.
  • You will visit the Axolotl Museum, where a marine biologist will give you a detailed explanation of the axolotl, a species endemic to Xochimilco.
  • You will visit a small part of the Apatlaco Canal.
  • Then you can enjoy the most beautiful and peaceful canals, located in the ecological area.
  • You will be able to see the smallest chinampa in Xochimilco.
  • Finally, you will visit the original Island of the Dolls, where a guide will tell you the terrifying story of this chinampa.

    Important: Boarding times and access to the island

You must board before 1:30 p.m. to cross into the ecological area. If you do not board before this time, you may not be able to reach the island.
